Swedish Massage

Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Benefits may include:

- Relaxation and pain relief

- Reduced depression and anxiety

- Decreased fatigue and stress.

- Reduction in knee arthritis

- Eases the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome

- Lowers blood pressure

- Boosts immune system function

- Reduces headaches

- Helps to mitigate the symptoms of fibromyalgia

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a form of massage therapy that is used to realign the deeper layers of the muscles and connective tissues—addressing and resolving the underlying problems that can lead to chronic pain and stiffness. This massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and applies deep pressure onto specific trouble points.

Benefits may include:

- Helps with muscle damage from injuries

- Increases flexibility and blood flow.

- Resolves a chronic condition, injury

- Resolves a condition such as extreme muscular adhesions

This is not the kind of massage to ask for if you expect to feel relaxed during the therapy, because afterwards you may feel sore for a couple of days. After receiving a deep tissue massage, there may be some soreness or stiffness to your muscles that generally doesn’t last more than a day. Ensure that you drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous exercise the day after your massage in order to help your muscles heal. We recommend that you ice certain areas of your body, or that you take a hot bath—depending on what you’re being treated for.

Shiatu Massage

In the Japanese language, shiatsu means "finger pressure". Shiatsu techniques include massages with fingers, thumbs, feet and palms; assisted stretching; and joint manipulation and mobilization. To examine a patient, a shiatsu practitioner uses palpation and, sometimes, pulse diagnosis. The Japanese Ministry of Health defines shiatsu as "a form of manipulation by thumbs, fingers and palms without the use of instruments, mechanical or otherwise, to apply pressure to the human skin to correct internal malfunctions, promote and maintain health, and treat specific diseases.

Benefits may include:

- Shiatsu can work the tension and spasms out of the muscles, thus eliminating muscle aches by rubbing and pulling at the skin and muscles, and by pressing on acupressure points that release tension.

- Helps reduce stress, tension, anxietyand depression by leaving you relaxed and calm.

- Helps to aid migraines by relaxing the body and increasing blood flow and circulation throughout the body.

- Helps those who suffer from fatigue and weakness by restoring and maintaining the body’s energy.

- Helps stimulate circulation in capillaries of the skin’s soft tissues.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy

Benefits may include:

- Reduced back pain

- Reduced joint pain

- Improved circulation

- Reduced edema

- Reduced muscle tension and headaches

- Reduced stress and anxiety

- Improved oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles

- Better sleep
